Third graders at Cherokee will be participating in an authentic service learning project. They will be learning about issues associated with hunger and how it affects families in our community and around the world. To recognize all of the “Empty Bowls” around the world, students will be hosting an Empty Bowls luncheon on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Students will be making bowls in art class that will be used to serve soup. Each bowl will cost $10.00 (cash- per bowl); all donations will be given to local food pantries. For your donation you will receive a handmade bowl created by a Cherokee student or staff member. Soup will be served in the bowls along with bread.
Our Lake Forest- Six Word Stories
We enjoyed exploring Market Square and learning more about the architecture and history in our very own city. After our field trip to the square, students were asked to choose a picture and write a six word story describing their image. Click on the "Our Lake Forest-Six Word Stories" link above to see our creative project.
